Pacifica is working with the Burnside Gorge Community Association, the City of Victoria and School District 61 on a new family oriented housing project at the centre of the community.
88 units of new housing will be built alongside the heritage school, which will be revitalized with new investments and new opportunities for adult education programs.
The new complex will include bachelor, one and two bedroom suites alongside refreshed greenspace, a new playground and more room for daycare services.
The proposal meets all of the objectives spelled out in the neighbourhood plan and will help create a new vibrant, village hub. Details will be reviewed and refined at a community meeting. Meeting details can be found here.
Pacifica is excited to announce the redevelopment of Colwood Lakes into an expanded Affordable Housing Project. This will create more homes for median income earning one-parent households, two-parent families with children, and single person households (including adults with disabilities and seniors) who, despite being able to live independently, may still be vulnerable in a rental market challenged by low vacancy rates and high shelter costs.
In order to make best use of the available space we are retiring 12 older units at the end of their lifecycle and replace them with a new four storey, 82-unit building comprised of bachelor, one, two, and three bedroom units. Pacifica’s relocation plan for current tenants has helped them find new homes and offers them the option of returning once the new building is complete.
Colwood Lakes backs onto the Galloping Goose regional trail – a multi-use, non motorized corridor that extends from downtown Victoria to Sooke. Helios is located 1.3 kms from Colwood’s downtown core where there are grocery stores, banks, and medical centers and other shops and services. Elementary and middle schools are no further than 2 kms away from homes at Colwood Lakes.
Pacifica Housing is also in progress with redevelopment of our Oak Park complex in Langford, just northwest of Colwood. The project will add a new four storey building that includes a number of bachelor, one, two, three, and four bedroom units.
Ten families have been successfully re-housed through Pacifica’s relocation plan to make way for 64 units of affordable housing. Re-housed tenants will be given priority options to move back to Oak Park and into the new units when the project is complete.
Oak Park is well situated along major transportation routes that reach west to Sooke and southeast to downtown Victoria. Oak Park also backs onto the Galloping Goose regional trail and is located 1.2kms from Langford’s commercial centre, where there are numbers of grocery stores, banks, medical centres, recreation facilities and other shops and services. Oak Park is also located 1.9kms away from the community’s elementary and middle schools and is close to the west shore’s newest secondary school.
