Pacifica Housing prides itself on cultivating thriving communities. At Pacifica Seniors Lodge (PSL) in Nanaimo, our 92-year-old resident, Inge is not only inspiring her neighbours and staff, but also the community.
As a talented crocheter, she has been selling her beautifully-made toques, scarves, and afghans at a table in the lobby of PSL for the past two years and donating the proceeds to local charities.
This year, she finally reached her goal of $1,255 thanks to a Mini Bazaar that she organized in November. Her charity recipient of choice was Loaves and Fishes, a local food bank.
This spunky senior is also one of the most tech-savvy residents of PSL. She regularly keeps in touch with her many children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren through Zoom and participates in a newly created virtual Seniors Crafting Group.
What’s next for Inge? “I’m taking a break for a little while, but I have lots of yarn left. Baby blankets are the next projects!”
